WOMEN's STORIES SERIES

"When I was a student in the Faculty of Engineering at the UofM, I was told by a male peer that 'you only got the interview for an engineering summer job because you're a woman.' He had applied too. He didn't get an interview. Turns out I had much more relevant experience on my resume. I hear from other women in engineering that they still hear this when they are hired and/or promoted. This needs to stop."

WOMEN started a social media series in 2019 to create awareness about how women and other minorities in engineering are treated, both positively and negatively. The series was created with the intent of allowing allies to see what they can do or stop doing to make a positive difference in the community, as well as realize the extent of the problem. WOMEN's stories series also aims to encourage those who face similar situations and create a network of support.
